With 35 U.S. states recognizing the value of medical marijuana, we thought it would be fun to dive into some super fun facts about weed.

• The state of California was the first to ban cannabis usage.
• Alaska made marijuana for personal use legal back in 1975.
• Denver, Colorado is the location of the very first arrest for possession and selling of cannabis.
• Colorado has more medical dispensaries than they do Starbucks and McDonalds, combined!
• Nearly 20% of the population in Iceland are regular cannabis users, the largest population in the world.
• Mexico grows more pot than any other country.

• Bob Marley‘s son, Stephen, was born on April 20th. 420, to those in the know.
• When Bob Marley was buried, his friends and family added a few things he might need in the afterlife, such as his Gibson Les Paul red guitar, a soccer ball, a Bible opened to Psalms 23, a ring one of his son’s had given him, and, of course, a cannabis bud.
• Cameron Diaz used to buy her pot from Snoop Dog, while they both attended the Long Beach Polytechnic High School.

• Love online shopping? Well, some university students do too. Reportedly, the very first item purchased on the internet was pot.
  • A few Stanford University students placed an order online from their counterparts over at MIT.

• Shakespeare may have been a pot-head.
  • Scientists unearthed 24 pipes in his garden in Stratford-upon-Avon. The pipes tested to be over 400 years old and many had traces of cannabis.
• George Washington is famous for being a cannabis grower at Mount Vernon.

• In the late 80’s, a woman named, Mary Jane Rathbun, mixed up some brownie batter, tossed some weed in, and voila, the medical cannabis movement began.

    • With AIDS and other deadly diseases running amuck, “Brownie Mary”, as she was to become called, baked her goodies to give to patients to ease their pain and nausea.
      • Here fame grew and others started to contribute literally tons of weed to her so she could keep baking up her special brownies.
