Forget the frozen canned version of lemonade found in the stores. Making homemade lemonade is quick and easy and far better than store bought.
INGREDIENTS
1 1/2 cups white granulated sugar
1 cup water
9 medium lemons, or more as needed
7 cups ice-cold water
ice cubes as desired
OPTIONAL
sliced lemons for garnish
fresh mint leaves for added taste
INSTRUCTIONS
Over medium heat, combine the granulated sugar and 1 cup water in a small saucepan.
Stir to dissolve sugar while mixture comes to a boil. Set aside this simple syrup mixture to cool as you prepare the lemons.
Roll fresh lemons around on your counter to help soften them. Cut in half lengthwise.
Squeeze into a liquid measuring cup. Add the pulp to the juice, discarding any seeds. Continue juicing until you have 1 1/2 cups fresh juice and pulp.
Pour 7 cups ice-cold water into a pitcher. Stir in lemon juice and pulp, then add the simple syrup to taste. Add ice.
ADULT VERSION
Add some vodka!
Sip and enjoy responsibly.
