Nothing says home-cooking comfort food like a pot of American Goulash. This is a perfect meal for mid-week and everyone loves it. Budget-friendly and easy to find ingredients make this a must for families.
INGREDIENTS
2 pounds ground beef
1 large yellow or white onion, diced
1/2 green pepper, diced (optional)
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 1/2 cups water
1 tablespoon beef base or bouillon
2 (15 ounce cans) tomato sauce
2 (15 ounce cans) diced tomatoes
1 can (15 ounces) yellow corn
3 bay leaves
1 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
2 tablespoons Italian Seasoning
2 teaspoons paprika
1 1/2 chili powder
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
2 cups elbow macaroni noodles, uncooked (or any small pasta)
INSTRUCTIONS
Boil the macaroni noodles until al dente.
Brown the ground beef and drain the fat. Add the onions, soy sauce and Worcestershire Sauce and sauté until softened.
Add remaining ingredients and mix. Cook until the water is almost gone.
Add the macaroni noodles and mix. Simmer for 5-10 minutes until flavors have a chance to meld.
Optional: Top with shredded cheddar cheese, if desired.
