Disturbing Facts about 9/11

Today marks twenty years since the most brutal and senseless terrorist attack on U.S. soil from foreign monsters. Hate is such an ugly thing. It kills and destroys innocent lives and in the end, gets no where.

There’s really no healing from such an event, but there is hope. Hope that in the light of such darkness people can begin to strive to be better, more giving and loving people.

We’re highlighting some of the main facts of 9/11. While it is important that we all move on, it is also important to always remember. Remember the innocent lives that were taken and their families who remove broken apart. Remember that ugliness serves no man and no purpose.

So today, as we pause to reflect on the horrific events that occurred twenty years ago, let’s all proactively do something positive to make the world a better place.

2,996 people were killed during the 9/11 terrorist attacks, ranging from ages 2-85 years old. Of the 2,996 souls lost, roughly 80% were males.

There were eight children, 343 firefighters, 23 NYPD officers, and 37 police officers from the New York and New Jersey Port Authority among those who perished.

Many people jumped from the Twin Towers in an effort to escape the heat and fire. It is said that the fall lasted 10 seconds and they struck the ground at roughly 150 mph. All deaths from falling were ruled as homicide, rather than suicide.

The World Trade Center consisted of seven buildings in lower Manhattan, with the Twin Towers being the centerpieces. Each of the towers had 110 floors and were the tallest buildings in the state of New York.

The Twin Towers had roughly 430 companies with offices, a hotel, and an underground mall. It is said that roughly 35,000 people were employed in the towers.

The attacks were orchestrated by the Islamic extremist group known as the al-Qaeda. The hijacking were done by 19 members of this hate group.

It’s been reported that initially, the al Qaeda planned to target nuclear power plants, but they thought things would get ‘out-of-control’, so they opted for the WTC and the Pentagon.

NASA used metal that was recovered from the World Trade Center on their Martian Rovers as a tribute to those who were killed.
