I used to think German chocolate frosting was too difficult to consider making by scratch, so I always bought the premade versions. Then one day, I couldn’t find any at the store I went to so I decided to try making it myself. This was a pleasant surprise. Not only was it incredibly simple, but it was so much better than the store bought versions.
There are many ways to top your German chocolate cake. Try it with chocolate frosting on the sides and/or top. Add a layer with chocolate frosting and one layer with German chocolate frosting. Top with pecans or chocolate shavings. No matter what, it’s going to be delicious!
